Unhappy Black key programming

Hello all.

I have a 2008 1000s Sports Classic and needed to replace a black key,

I have the red key, a black key ( that works ok) and a new black key cut but not programmmed to work.
I have the workshop manual but......... if I follow the manual I can not get past the first step ie. I put the red key in and can not see the display show "1" or any count down as the manual rekons. I have put the key in and waited over 30 sec (as the manual says) in fact I left it for a minute, but can not get past the first step of starting the programmig....any ideas...???

Hello Ollie

Yea tried that but still can't get the display to show anything but the time and oil temp. Never seem to get to the "1" or the count down showing on the right hand display.

So I am still looking around, not much on the web about this model. More about monsters and 1098's etc.
It is a bit frustrating. But thanks for your suggestion.

Any other ideas????

Could take it to your dealer.

try on-off real fast 2-5 times until you do start to see the countdown w/ the red key, it's worked for me a couple of times
