eight, I have a 999 motor in my 748. Cranks wayyy better than the turd yausa. While you're in there replace the starter wires or atleast clean them up, it helps. Chris.

Is there any maintenance required for these? Or do you just put in and leave it alone? have you had any problems with it dying while riding at night?

no issues, no trickle, if it gets cold and seems dead just let the head light on for a few minutes to get the current moving again then start it, if it actually does die due to an error ie: left the key on etc, d amp or greater charger brings it back, I paid 250 some for my speed cell, I paid 150 shipped for the mda with dewalt lifepo cells. Both come with anderson quick connects. Mda came with badass isolating foam. For the record I'm in no way affiliated with either company. It is currently the cheapest way to shave that much weight and it increases cranking over stock, the formally popular odyssy battery weighs more than the stock iircc.

thanks for the info, i just didnt want a battery i needed to hook up and charge after every ride. this will be next on my list for extras.

you won't regret it. Btw the 8 cell starts my brothers 1098 no prob but it resets the clock...

Weigh Reduction:
- Battery (I recommend a Y7 battery vs speedcell, its cheaper) (4lb's)
- Aluminum mono subframe (4lb's)
- ETI Fuel Cell (5lb's)
- Arrow Exhaust system (if you can find one 10lb's)
Its extremely difficult to get these bikes light without converting to a track bike. If you're street riding, the heaviness won't bother you that much. You will feel a weight difference with the items above if you do them all. But if you do one or two of them, you won't feel much at all. These bikes are pigs and even my built race 748 was pretty dam heavy compared to my 848 race bike, almost 60 lb's difference between the two, that a lot!

Still alive yes, no more Ducati's... all gone sadly.
Economy is too rough to have tens of thousands of dollars cooped up in metal bits that arn't worth anything outside of roadracing in my garage. LOL
